CENTENARY OF THE END OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1918-2018
Fifty one people are listed on the World War 1 memorial tablets in Edenfield Parish Church, one of which was brought from Edenfield Methodist Church. Over the days leading up to the one hundredth anniversary of the end of the war, we remembered each person from the village who sacrificed their life so we could live.
During October fifty one giant poppies, each dedicated to one of the fallen, were erected on village lampposts. There was a further giant poppy in the Memorial Gardens, where we remembered different soldiers every day during the period leading up to Remembrance Day. The information about each soldier was available to read at the Drop Off Cafe.
Chris Hollis did a Remembrance project with the year 6 children at Edenfield school. This will be an installation in the church grounds entitled ‘Not One Forgotten’.
Hopefully we will make sure that there is a fitting tribute to those who lost their lives.
