Held on 18thJuly, 2018, 7.30pm at Edenfield Cricket Club
Chairman opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the 42ndAnnual General Meeting.
Minutes of the previous AGM held on 21stJune, 2017, were approved as being a correct record. There were no matters arising.
Fete/Fell Race 2017: Marginally successful, weather was kind and the results acceptable mostly due to generous donation from the Rostrons Arms. Thanks were given to the landlord of the Rostrons for his generous support of the event.
Fete 2018:Lovely weather resulted in a very successful day both financially and in the positive feedback given by those who attended.
Fell Race 2018: A very successful event with a record number of runners. Thanks were given to the Cricket Club for hosting the event, and the work involved in staging the Race, and to anyone who assisted on the day including Dave, from the Rostrons, for his generous support of this event.
Cricket Match 2018: Thanks were given to Mark for organising this event and to everyone taking part. The Cricket Club won by 1 point. The raffle raised £175.00 for the Neighbourhood Forum.
Defibrillators: Two defibrillators have been installed in the Village at the Rostron’s Arms and the Coach and Horses. One training section has been held by highly trained volunteers and further sessions are to follow. Chairman invited anyone interested to contact him to book a place.
Council Local Plan: Following a proposal by the Council to remove large areas of Green belt from the village, for housing purposes, a campaign was mounted resulting in leaflet drops throughout the Village followed by house to house calls and a public meeting. The result of this action was that 808 people objected to the plan. Subsequently, the Neighbourhood Forum was formed with a view to fighting the
Council’s plans and producing a plan, for the Village, which would govern planning over the next 15 years. The current position is detailed in the Minutes for the Committee Meeting held following the AGM.
Other Events: Two successful events held were the Remembrance Service in the Memorial Garden and then, in December, Carols Round the Tree attended by over 100 people.
Fingerpost Garden: The garden has been revived thanks to Liz Stooke. A grant of £500 was received from the Council who were responsible for removing the soil, etc. This was not finished correctly but Liz has this in hand with the Council.
Chatterton Hey: Two visits have been made by staff/police to the Association for updates to be given. Visits had been made by Chairman and Jenifer Mead and all appeared well. An Open Day had taken place but EVRA was not represented.
Edenfield in Bloom 2018:Judging will take place shortly . Grants are not available so the event is being funded by EVRA with fewer awards.
Chairman closed his remarks by thanking anyone who has assisted throughout the year with activities including friends whose support is invaluable and, without whom,we would be unable to run the events.
The Treasurer distributed copies of the Financial Statement for the period ending 31stDecember, 2017, and explained the principal features of his report.
Re-election of committee members: In accordance with recent practice, all existing members, present or not, are deemed to have offered themselves for re-election. Jason Horsfall proposed, seconded by Liz Stooke, and all members were duly re-elected.
Chairman closed the meeting by thanking everyone for attending.
